Which drawings are required for a building permit?
Building permit drawings are a set of different architectural drawings requested by your municipality. As standard, all municipalities require these drawings:
- Site plan showing the property with its boundaries, all existing buildings, structures and the surroundings. Drawn at a scale of 1:400
- Floor plans or layouts showing all the rooms on every floor, together with doors and windows. The function of each room must be stated. Drawn at a scale of 1:100
- Elevation drawings are drawings showing the building's facades straight on. A building usually has four facades, for example facing south, north, east and west. Drawn at a scale of 1:100
- Section drawing shows a building in cross-section along a line marked on the floor plan. The section drawing must show, for example, room height, floor level, ground level, building height and roof pitch. Drawn at a scale of 1:100
What is the difference between an architectural drawing and a building permit drawing?
Architectural drawing or A-drawing
These drawings are where the design of the building and its functions begins. The layout and room descriptions are set out with dimensioned walls, specified windows and doors, materials and colours of finishes, and other interior details may also be included.
A building permit drawing is a set of some of the architectural drawings your municipality requests for a building permit. The drawings do not need to be very detailed, for example interior finishes do not need to be specified. However, a site plan is needed showing the building's position on the plot, distances to other buildings, property boundaries and so on.

What is the difference between a building drawing and a K-drawing?
Building drawing is sometimes the everyday term for the structural drawings, also called K-drawings, produced by a structural engineer. These drawings specify the build-up of the foundation, walls and roof, as well as other details. The structural engineer usually also calculates loads and sizes load-bearing parts, beams and so on.

A package price is available for this, contact us and we can give you a proper quote.
Do you carry out site visits?
It depends on your wishes and on whether we need to see the house in person, for example if it needs to be measured or if we want to get a feel for the house and the plot. You are always welcome to visit our office to start a discussion with us and tell us about your wishes and needs.
What happens if I am asked to supplement my building permit application?
We go carefully through the conditions before the building permit drawings are produced. If a request for additional information should still arise, we correct or supplement the drawings at no cost to you if it is due to something we missed.
How do I know whether I am allowed to build what I have in mind?
Start by checking the detailed development plan for your area. You can often find it on the municipality's website. Otherwise, contact the building permit office by email/phone. Get in touch with us if you need help interpreting the regulations.
